[ OUR STORY ]

Atlanta native Robert Hardy’s love of giving back, began with holiday service projects with his family.

Over the years it grew to him working with a variety community organizations including: Hosea Feed the Homeless, Atlanta Food Bank, Love Beyond Walls and The Amazing Stories Foundation.

In the summer of 2022, he got the opportunity to work as a youth counselor for the Horizons camp, and fell in love with the program. Many of kids were very bright, inquisitive and had a desire to learn. They just lacked some of the resources that Robert had been fortunate to receive. The connection and overall experience made a lasting impression, that stayed with him after the program ended.

While participating in the CodeHouse student STEM symposium, he participated fun in an activity, led by team STEAMsport, Inc. They were using RC cars and robotics to teach people about programming. The exciting demonstration made him wonder, “What would happen if his Horizon students (particularly the 7th and 8th graders) could participate in a similar fun experience? It could potentially serve as a great way to increase their interest in STEM as they head to high school.”

Robert established Project Ujima Code Inc. (a Georgia based non-profit organization) and collaborated with the Horizons camp (Woodward Academy) to help provide students with added exposure to the field of STEM.
